Planning your website.
I have customers that I meet with and they are very frustrated because they want and need a website, but they really don't know where to begin.
It sounds easy to just say I WANT a website. But where do you start?
I hope that this worksheet will make it a little easier for you to organize your thoughts and ideas for you new website.
- Why would they want to choose you? Your first page is like your front door to your business. Keep it to the point and summarize. People are in a hurry and they want to know what you have to offer, how to get it, and how to contact you. Let’s make these things front and center and quick
- What colors do you want or like? or more importantly NOT like?
- Do you have customers that can give you a reccomendation? This small typed recommendation verifies to potential customers that you are viable.
- Do you have a logo? In digital form? If not, I can scan a logo on a letterhead, but it’s usually not as good of resolution as a digital one
- What kind of ‘ feel’ do you want for your website? Business? Traditional? Contemporary?
- Do you have good pictures? Before and after are always good examples to show your good work.
- How many pages do you want? I tell my customers to sit down and use a separate piece of paper and just jot down a few words on each page that helps them organize their thoughts as to what they will want to see in a website.
- Who will be responsible for getting the information to me? It will work much better if it is one person
- Will you need to have your website updated? How often?
- Where do I want my navigation? My buttons/text links? In the body of the page or above it? Along the side?
- What contact information do I want on there? Emails? Phone numbers?
I will be glad to meet with you and discuss any of these things or you can email me from the contact page with questions and I'll get back to you when it's more convenient for you.
